This course focuses on the effects of radon in our water supply. It reviews the physics of radioactivity and atomic decay while explaining the relative health risks of radon when it is ingested in water and inhaled through the air. You will learn how water absorbs radon from the soil and how radon-contaminated water enters the air. You will explore method to measure radon levels in water and how to remove radon when appropriate

  This course provides a broad understanding of the construction methods that help reduce radon entry and accumulation in new buildings. It will explain how radon gas behaves and how different factors, such as geology, air flow, and construction techniques can alter its behavior. Completing this course will help a student to understand relevant building codes; design and construction techniques that can reduce indoor radon levels; and installation techniques that allow mitigation professionals to convert passive systems into active systems by installing a fan.
